Wikipedia was in many ways the punk moment of the web.
Just as the punk ethos was "anyone can play an instrument even if they cant" and "anyone can start a band" the Wiki movement said "anyone can contribute" and "anyone can edit".

And just as Punk gave us the brilliance of The Sex Pistols and The Clash and Siouxsie and the Banshees but also the destructiveness of Sid & Nancy Wiki gave us Wikipedia and Wikileaks  as well as The Editing Wars
